Ayu is a Japanese river fish grown only up to 8"~9" with lifespan of only one year. Ayu fishing as well as keiryu turi is very popular in Japan but the fishing period is strictly limited which is from June thru October in order to protect baby ayu that grows up during November thru May.
Ayu is so delicious to taste when it is grilled with salt. There is so
many a gourmet in Japan who loves ayu meat. |
